Education savings accounts and state scholarships for sports academies
Which state programs exist, who runs their payments, and what to check before you apply.
Many states now let families pay approved education providers from an education savings account (ESA) or scholarship, for example Florida (Step Up For Students), Texas, Arizona, Utah and North Carolina. Each program decides which services qualify and runs its own payment portal, so an academy has to apply to each program separately and check whether its programs count.
State programs and who runs their payments
No program here promises that sports or athletic instruction qualify. Some restrict sports, and the rules change every year. Check each program's own rules before you apply.
